I just love Doctor days

Today has been a great day - I love Doctor visit days! Going in to the doctor, I was expecting to hear the heartbeat but I got a lot more than I bargained for. Dr. Frankel wasn't able to get a good spot with the "heartbeat" machine, so she ended up using the ultrasound machine again - YAY! I have a new picture to share, but you can't see anything too clearly.

From what the doc said, this is most likely a side view of the face. It was so funny - she was manipulating the wand to get a good picture and she starts laughing. Of course I'm really curious to what she's laughing at! She turns the screen to me and says, "You've got a troublemaker on your hands. It's like dance party USA in your uterus!" I've never seen anything like it in my life - the baby was bouncing from one side to the other, from top to bottom and moving around like crazy. It was SO COOl! So, we weren't even able to get a good picture because of all the movement. I go back to the doctor on the 20th of June, so we'll hope for a more clear picture on that trip - if we get lucky enough to get a picture at all.

More good news - I can take 2 Flinstone vitamins everyday instead of the prenatal vitamins that have been making me sick. She recommends them because you get just as much from 2 Flinstone's as you do prenatal ones - isn't that crazy? I wouldn't have thought that.
Well, I guess that is about all for now - I'll keep updating regularly! Love you all :)

We're having a baby

Ok, so now it's been a little over a month since we found out we are going to have a baby. Caroline and others have been pressing me to create a website, so here is my first attempt.
The story of how I found out Rodney and I were pregnant is definitely one for the record books! Let's all keep it to ourselves until "little hancock" is at least old enough to drink :) If you haven't heard the story, here it goes:

Shannon Hancock, Regina Grice, her boyfriend Dax and I went out for happy hour on April 13th - Friday the 13th of all days! We started out hard core at Rue de John with vodka soda's and funky blue martini's. After a few drinks and a few sushi rolls, we headed over to Wasabi to feast on more alcoholic beverages.

In the bathroom, Shannon and I started talking about babies and cramps and women stuff - I had cramps that just wouldn't go away, but nothing was "happening" down there. So, Shannon asked when the last time "flo" came to visit and I realized that it was the last time we went to the mountains - yeah, BACK IN FEBRUARY, the 26th to be exact. Needless to say, Shannon started to freak out and insisted that we go to the grocery and get a pregnancy test. I insisted that we get a shot at the bar first!

So, we headed off to Harris Teeter in downtown Charleston. After paying for the test, we went into the bathroom at Harris Teeter - yes, I know this is terrible - and I took the test. I wasn't even finished going yet when the test read positive. There was no hesitation - I was pregnant. Did I mention yet that Rodney is at a Widespread Panic concert in Asheville, NC?

So, I texted Rodney to call me at set break - he called back IMMEDIATELY. I said, "Can you hear me, I mean REALLY hear me?" He said that he could, so I said, "I'm pregnant." He replied, "Oh my GOD, I mean I love you, oh my GOD."

From there, I obviously went home, calling my mom and dad on the way. Believe it or not, no one answered the phone! I had to repeatedly call my mom to get her to answer - she was at my Aunt Harriet's - they all went crazy when they heard the news.

So, that is our story about how we found out we were having "little hancock." From there we had to wait about 2 weeks before the doctor would see us, but when she did see us - this is what we saw.

The dark kidney bean shape is my uterus. The crosses are the head and the bottom. The circle shaped small thing above the top cross is the yolk sac that feeds the baby until the umbilical cord develops.

Everyone wants to know how I feel - well, this week has been far better than the last few weeks. I don't know if it's a good thing, but I actually ate a Wendy's burger last night for dinner! It was much better than the mashed potatoes and mac & cheese that I have been eating - KFC has been my secret weapon.

I don't know how I feel about putting "pregnant" pictures of me on this website, but many of you have asked for them, so I'll comply. Just don't share them with everyone you know!
